Some settlers willingly withdrew from their homes after 38 years. Many, however, were forcibly removed. Thankfully, despite the resistance, no blood was spilled during the pullout.
In response to the pullout, Palestinians celebrated the Jewish pullout of Gaza and claimed the victory over the state of Israel. The Palestinians claimed that they forced this withdrawal with their terror attacks against Israel.
Even the chairman of the Palestinian Authority, Abu Mazen, joined in the celebration as he spoke to a large gathering in Gaza city where he declared, "Tomorrow, we will celebrate the liberation of Jerusalem."
Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal declared the Israeli withdrawal to be the beginning of the end of the Zionist dream. Mashaal called the pullout a defeat in the face of Palestinian resistance and a significant and historic step.
Mashaal also said that the Palestinian armed struggle is the only strategy that Hamas possesses and that the resistance is capable of ending the Israeli occupation and achieving all rights for the Palestinian people. Hamas is refusing to lay down their weapons and they say they will not lay down their weapons as long as Palestinian lands remain under the so-called Israeli occupation.
Jimmy's Prophetic Prospective on the News
The Palestinian people and their leadership, both the Palestinian Authority and the militant Hamas, are celebrating Israel’s withdrawal from Gaza, a scenario that is described in Bible prophecy.
The still controversial Gaza disengagement plan is complete, and the Palestinian Authority couldn’t be happier. While Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon wept over his decision to forcibly remove thousands of Israeli Jews from their homes, there was dancing in the streets among the Palestinians. The Palestinian Authority and terrorist groups alike view this abandonment of land by Israel as their enemy, the Jewish people, retreating from battle and giving up ground.
This scenario was predicted some 2,500 years ago by the ancient Jewish prophet Ezekiel when he wrote the prophecy found in Ezekiel 36:5. The prophet revealed that in the last days the Edomeans, the descendants of Esau or the modern-day Palestinians, would take the Jewish land with a despiteful mind and a joyful heart.
Bible prophecy however, contradicts the statement by the Hamas leader that the Israeli pullout from the Gaza Strip was the beginning of the end of the Zionist dream . Zionism is not over. The Jews will continue to make their way to live in Israel as we draw closer to the coming of the Messiah when all Jews will indeed live in Israel, Ezekiel 37:1-14, 34:11-20. God Himself will bring the Jews back into the land of Zion. Zionism is alive and well. Bible prophecy will be fulfilled.
